We have The Geometer's Sketchpad in all of our K-5 schools. The students can explore the geometric definitions and test them so that all of the words they hear make sense. It is a great tool for exploring geometric relationships. The Geometer’s Sketchpad is the ultimate manipulative. Students can construct, reconstruct, transform, measure, and calculate in a most efficient and effective manner.

The Geometer's Sketchpad is a great program for allowing students to see geometry. It is intuitive enough for later elementary grades, but powerful enough for use in college. I, myself, am having fun re-learning the geometric principals I have since forgotten.

As a science teacher, I use Sketchpad to create a direct connection between learning concepts and vocabulary and building investigatory skills. Sketchpad engages students while improving their mathematical knowledge. With Sketchpad, students are constantly using mathematical terminology in context (creating angles, drawing rectangles, measuring, graphing, etc.), so they can automatically make connections between creating and understanding. Sketchpad is really simple, and while my students are learning, I’m re-teaching myself all the properties and language of mathematics.

Sketchpad allowed me to change the way that I taught my classes. This software made it possible for my students to explore geometry in creative and interesting ways. The students were able to experiment and discover, create and learn geometry interactively, rather than just memorizing concepts from a textbook.
